Howling winds or werewolves?

28/02/2011

Evening,

I took the dogs out for their walk the other night and got the timings wrong and I ended up walking along in the near dark. It certainly aids the imagination and I thought back to a time nine or so years ago when I took the boys (the human son type) out for a night time walk in the woods when it was howling and blowing and just as dark.

As it is here...

Cheerio

Where do you live?

Hello,

Ever wondered where your address lies in the hierarchy of place names?

Now I don't mean that if you live in Rose Gardens in the "well to do" suburb you are higher up the hierarchy as opposed to citizens who live in Dead Petal Row who are near the foundations of societys ladder.

No, what I mean is are Roads higher up than Streets?

Where do Crescents settle in the continuum?

Is a Rise an ascendent nomenclature?

If your castle is in a Circus do you feel that you are getting nowhere fast?

What position does a Place occupy?

Is an Avenue for you regardless of where its sits on the list?

From your Hill do you look down at those in addresses below?

Just a question.

Now You See It.........

27/02/2011

Hello

I've never been one for giving dogs little treats or tit bits that by any other name would be classed as human food scraps. A fat dog is a sad sight in my book. Now I'm not saying the dogs never get anything that was destined for us, but until tonight I dont think they've had chips. Life though is for living and its hard to be too critical when it was the humans who got the take away from the fish n chip shop in the first place.

I also learned that the dogs love chips but more interestingly they are masters of the dark arts.

They are magicians, they can make things disappear as you can now see.....

Hello
If the old Arabic head serves me right the title is the Arabic word for no.

Why that? Well the book above was one of those recommended in a newspaper or periodical as a good read.

Well I would have to say no, it's not that good. I found some of the background interesting. It helped jog old memories of my time working and living in Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia but these were sadly the best parts.

The basic plot is a bit weak. It had me a mite confused at first as the characters took a bit of time to establish themselves in my mind, the narrative did little to assist.

As the plot developed and the tension? evolved there was a tendency for the author to adopt the one leap and they were free approach to resolving difficult situations. It seemed as if the idea had been formed but she didn't know how to finish the scene.

So leave it on the shelves unlike "The Time Travellers Wife" I read that a few years ago. Imaginative, unique and a romance as well ticked some big boxes and it delivered. Why am I mentioning that book now? I've just watched the DVD not a bad interpretation. Indeed it was..

The Big Screen

25/02/2011

Hello,

There's a house at the start of our street, well not the start exactly. More as you turn off the main road, taking the downhill before the bend that leads to our road. So just there at that point, there is a house. Now in this house there lives a man, who a few weeks ago decided to buy himself a television. Now this was no normal tv or even a normal big screen its multiplex sized!

This has the impact that when you pull off the main road that leads to our road you are distracted by this open air cinema experience. Well it will be in the summer when he opens his windows. Even now though in chillier climes the heat building inside the room from this electronic furnace must be pretty big. Maybe it doubles as a heat generator for his sauna?

So you sit in the car and whatever image is on the screen beames into your field of vision. Now that is bad enough but I'm waiting for the following scenarios to happen.

What if this whooshed out of the screen?

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gciFoEbOA8]

Imagine turning left to be met with this!

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VP5jEAP3K4]

What if we could replicate his remote signal? We could change his channels as we drove by!

Cats?

23/02/2011

Evening

It is well documented in these parts that I am a dog person. Cats rarely cross the threshold into this dog rich blogging environment.

Cats albeit fluffy are sleekit.

Evidence, you may well ask?

Well here it is from the guardians of British truth and honesty the

It gets worse it seems today that a blog from the past has sneaked into to be reposted. Why, who knows? My email seeking clarity and assistance into a sick blog - this one has been met with no reply as yet.
Therefore I'm working away with an alternative.
Thanks for your patience.

20/02/2011
Hello,
You know when work is going on in a shop or some ones house, the people within may stick old news papers on the window or maybe apply Windolene?

All with the objective of keeping the inside away from prying eyes.

Well the same thing is happening here I'm having a proper look at my options for blogging, sorry for raising it again.

Of course during such an intensive process the body needs supplies. Tea and cake work. These cakes are small and fabby.

Aaaaargh!

16/02/2011 evening, officially peeved, big story being told, you come out of the story to check a fact, return to find its been blogknapped! I could swear - lots! Because it 20 past 11 at night as opposed to the morning. I'm too christmas crackered to start again. So I'll put it this way Did you hear the one about the man who hired a bike, to get to the movies, got lost, got lost again, got hungry, got lost, got another bike, more cycling and by the nights end had inadvertently completed the East End bicycle tour. Sleepy, earned by corn tonight, so time for rest and recuperation. Perhaps my sense of direction mojo will return through the night like some dirty stop out who needs to sleep and freshen up? Night, night

Tired out on twitter

15/02/11 Evening Sleep has taken it's toll, so too tired to write. It has crossed my mind that I could be tired out because of my twitter feed activity? Seems to me I've tweeted a lot today. They're over on another page if you want to read them go over there to your right and click the link. Do you tweet? What's your title? Good night

How does that work?

14/02/2011

Evening,

Did your heart flutter this morning? Did St Valentine visit?

So there I was trying to spend some of our accumulated frequent flyer miles on a long weekend away.

I had worked out how much a flight would cost if buying for cash lets say it was £175 including taxes, so I had a baseline.

I phoned the miles redemption line.

I asked how many miles it would cost for the same trip 27,500 was the answer.

No problem there, have plenty to spare, sounded like good value.

Plus £255 for taxes.

Now, how does that work?

Do any of you have behind the scene knowledge of how such things work?

I'm flumoxed.

Needless to say we'll pay the cash price.

We Are All Stitches

13/02/2011

Many of you have asked @theyarnyard if there was a film of Thursdays Just Giving award presentation for her creative work in relation to P/HOP.

Well here it is (well a clipped version), spy your piece of the trophy, you are all stitches in the final garment after all.

Sexual stereotypes?

09/02/2011

Evening,
I'm not one for stereotypes usually. They exist to be challenged and if required broken.

However having been the custodian of a mixed sex pack lately, our usual testosterone heavy group has been seen in a new light.

It's been down to the introduction to a girl or is it just youth?

What do you think?

08/02/2011

Evening,

Ever read "Alice in Wonderland"?

Neither have I but as it has embedded itself into public culture I'm aware of certain characters. Like the March Hare, seemingly he was running around late for a very important date or something similar. Now I'm not late - yet! but time is a bit precious so I'm going to hop off.

Until tomorrow then.

Fluffing fiddlesticks!!!

07/02/2011

Hello again,
When a posting app goes "rogue" and doesn't post your entry, it's frustrating.

So third time of asking!

My original post asked the question on wether the time was right to launch a new photo blog entitled.

"hotel corridors of the world"

I could just post the picture and you could guess or I could tell you where it is?

I did wonder why some people offered a guess by tweet as my first entry actually said that #1 Holiday Inn Express, Inverness

Episode 2 coming soon, can you contain yourself?

Images from 2010 II

06/02/2011

Evening,

A late post tonight but hopefully some of you are still up, me I'm trying to get sleepy.

Last Sunday I put some of my favourite images from 2010 on the blog. I tried to get it down to 10 but wasn't assertive enough so here are some more.

Enjoy.

The dogs sitting in the woods, hoping for a biscuit.

The icy, lightly snow covered track that summed up the wintery months of early winter.

A river bus in Shanghai, the sheer mass of people who were moving around the Bund that evening all rushing around heading somewhere or so it seemed to me.

Me on the Great Wall of China, a great trip.

An Edinburgh "close"

An image of the Brooklyn Bridge, great architecture, great views and a great city.

Warehouse quarter, Hamburg.

Another shot from the revamped warehouse quarter in Hamburg. A good weekend just me and my Dad.

If I had to be pushed into a decision this would be in the top 3 of the 100's of images from 2010. Taken in Stockholm, as we sat indulging in the Swedish habit of coffee and cake it covers some of the basic elements of being Fegrig. Camera, books, travel, a mug for tea or coffee and glasses because I'm blind. A great holiday just the two of us.

A small wooden bridge across a stream but could it be the path into 2011 and more images?

Evening,

I've been doing my neighbourly bit whilst they are away for a short break.

It's not the post collection or the plant watering there is someone in house for that.

Anyway my task is much more enjoyable. It's walking their Labrador - Lily.

I can see my retiral plans taking shape - me and Nat living in a woodland, perhaps near some water with three dogs?

Don't tell Nat though, she's not convinced about the three dogs - yet ;)
