Cassiobury parkrun 1/4/17

After being in London for work on a Friday, I decided to stay over to collect another piece of the parkrun tourist puzzle.

I was staying at Wembley and took the 35 minute trip on the Metropolitan line north to the end of the Watford branch.

At the station there’s a set of toilets, just in case.

From there it’s an easy peesy walk to Cassiobury park for their parkrun.

The park is another one of these green gems that you never would stumble across unless you were looking for the parkrun.

The usual bunch of folk at the start, waiting on instructions.

It wasn’t a bad day, dry with a dull sky but not chilly and a great day to canter around the course with a few hundred other like minded souls.

As you’ll hear in the video, the course has a very slight rise and fall but predominantly it’s flat and all on tarmac paths. Road shoes will suffice.

Sadly again I was unable to stay to taste the park coffee shop offerings as I had to head back to my hotel and pack before heading home.

So flat and fast although I was being a bit cautious as I was nursing some ouchy bits in my leg. I ran faster than the course average time, so that was good enough for me.

It’s a two and a half circuit course with the end few metres on the grass. I did wonder if they had a scanner down that morning, as we queued to have the barcodes recorded. In the cold and rain of winter it wouldn’t be fun for the volunteers working through the long queues of parkrunners.

A friendly, welcoming bunch they are and after seeking out the race director to pass on my thanks to her and the volunteers I bade farewell.

Parkrun number 111 and the 34th venue for me.

Where next? Maybe one of the unticked Scottish venues?

Any suggestions?
